The Hoppily Story
Hoppily: The Story So Far
Hoppily, like most good ideas, was formed in a pub. After a trip to Canada in late 2016, Chris had returned to tell his brother Mark about all the craft beer he’d sampled out there. This got them thinking… Where can you buy great locally sourced beers? Back in 2016, it certainly wasn’t so obvious as today.
This then prompted them to consider: who’s making great beer, and how can we show this off to the world? Searches for breweries in Essex, London and further afield commenced - the gestation of Hoppily had begun…
Locally sourced, top-tasting beer
With fate on their side, and a few more beers on the tab, they enlisted the help of Alan, a tech guru who was visiting Mark at the time, to spend some long (and not always sober!) nights drawing up plans, website designs and fantasy taproom playlists.
And so Hoppily was born, initially working directly with local brewers, and now handpicking the best beers from right across the UK - providing our customers with access to artisan beers from a unique selection of the best small batch craft breweries across the land.
Fast forward a few years and we’re continuing to evolve, with two taproom and bottle shop locations (hello Leigh-on-Sea and Chelmsford), our online beer store which ships beer all across Britain, as well our monthly Craft Beer Club, delivering the very best and newest craft beers to our Club Members each month.
We might be growing, but our core values remain the same. We’re still all about:
- Local - look out for collabs and exclusives with Essex-based breweries and businesses
- The Beer - searching far and wide for the best new brewing talents and helping them find their way to your fridge (it’s a tough job, but someone’s got to do it…)
